"Over the course of the semester, I strengthened my ability to communicate visually, teaching me how to use illustration to tell clear and compelling stories. I particularly enjoyed working on the low-poly portrait and masterwork pieces—it was incredibly satisfying to see them come together through careful use of color, line, and structure. I learned to be more intentional with my visual choices, which sharpened my overall design thinking."

"I learned a lot about my process and gained more proficiency with tools I’ve never used like the curvature tool and the low-poly method. It reminded me that I am doing this because I love growing as a creative and becoming more proficient, which is something I’d forgotten. Going forward I want to try newer things and push myself to be more

artistic in my approach to my work, It was really nice to find my style and creative workflow again. Thank you so much for such a fantastic semester, Professor Blagg! This was without a doubt my favorite class I have taken thus far, and I can’t wait to continue learning more about the art and business of illustration. Thank you for re-exciting my drive to create again!"

"I had a really good time this semester getting to explore new styles of illustrations, including but not limited to the portraits and caricatures. My knowledge of tools on illustrator has helped a lot and are used in my graphic design work, making my work look cleaner and be more effective. I also enjoyed the fun prompts for the assignments, such as the western mural. I would not have ever created something like that and it adds diversity to my portfolio."

"This illustration class has been a rewarding and eye-opening experience. Over the semester, I improved my technical skills and learned how to express ideas better visually and think critically about composition, color, and storytelling. Projects like reimagining a famous painting in another artist’s style challenged me to see familiar works from new perspectives, while exercises in digital illustration pushed me to become more comfortable with new tools and techniques. Overall, this class has made me more confident as an artist and has inspired me to continue experimenting with different styles and approaches. I’m excited to carry forward what I’ve learned into future projects."
